Adam Lacko returns to the European Truck Racing Championship and Truck Race Team Allgäuer
(05.03.2010)
After the three-year pause Adam Lacko returns to the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. Czech driver will participate in the championship with the support of the manufacturer team MAN. He will represent Austrian Truck Race Team Allgäuer.
Adam Lacko participated in European Truck Racing Championship between years 2003 – 2006. He achieved his best result in the 2004 season, when he drove the MAN truck prepared by Egon Allgäuer’s team. In the 2004 season, Adam won three races at Nogaro, Most and Barcelona and finished 3rd in the Race Truck class. When Adam Lacko received an offer to return in Allgäuer’s team, he agreed.
Adam’s new team-mate in Truck Race Team Allgäuer will be Russian driver Alexander Lvov. On the occasion of the race at Nürburgring, Germany, the drivers line-up will be extend by German driver Joachim Stuck, the participant of 81 Grand Prix of Formula 1 and double winner of 24 Hours Le Mans.
This year Truck Race Team Allgäuer celebrates its tenth season of the successful cooperation with the manufacturer of MAN. The collaboration has been crowned by achieving the European champion title in 2002 and three runner-up positions.
To the tops of the season will traditionally belong the races at Nürburgring, Germany, and Most, Czech Republic. If the new circuit in Smolensk, Russia, was completed, the Truck Race Team Allgäuer would participate also in this free round (August 8th).
Adam Lacko: “Although I didn’t drive a truck in a last few seasons, I was always following the championship. Well, now I know what’s going on in there. The competition in the championship is now stronger because the Super Race Truck and the Race Truck classes have been connected into the one class. However, it happened before I left the championship, so I’m not afraid of it. In the 2004 season, we fought for good results together with Truck Race Team Allgäuer and we finished 3rd. We will see, but I hope we can build on this result or even improve it.
I have been looking forward to the race at Barcelona at most, but it was dropped out from the calendar. Of course I am looking forward to my home race at Most and also to Nürburgring, which has really special atmosphere.”
Truck Race Team Allgäuer is going to participate in the three-day test in Nogaro, France, at the beginning of the following week. Another test in April will be held again at Nogaro and there will participate all drivers of MAN. The season will kick off 22nd May at Misano, Italy.
